You are a marine researcher seeking to find and observe an array of aquatic life in the colorful Sunlight Zone, ghostly Twilight Zone, and pitch-black Midnight Zone of the world's seas and oceans. In Finspan, the fish you discover over 4 weeks will generate a series of benefits as you dive deeper into the ocean. The winner is the player with the most points gained from fish, eggs, young, schools, and achievements.
Dive beneath the surface and document the life found across three ocean zones in Finspan. Each player is a marine researcher building a collection of fish in the bright Sunlight Zone, the dim Twilight Zone and the deep Midnight Zone over four weeks of exploration.
Fish are played into an Ocean Mat at the depth where they live, with costs and abilities shaping how the growing ecosystem develops. On another turn, a diver can descend through one of the ocean columns and activate fish along the route, gathering cards, laying eggs and hatching young as the dive moves deeper.
Eggs can become young fish, and groups of young can form schools that improve scoring and support card abilities. Achievements set shared targets for each week, while the final score rewards fish, eggs, young, schools and completed research goals. A Nautoma opponent is included for solo play.
