Mutagen Board Game

Mutagen is a customisable worker placement game set in a 1920s biopunk universe. Each player has four workers that each react differently to the areas they are placed in. Each time a player places a worker, they will activate that location's action, plus an additional action determined by the worker's type. Players can unlock the full potential of biological upgrades, by infusing their workers with biological upgrades that will grant them a decisive edge over their opponents.

Compete to inherit the power of the Great Shard in Mutagen, a customisable worker placement game set in a 1920s biopunk world. The mysterious element accelerated the industrial revolution, distorted nature and enabled radical biological modification. Now the ageing Keeper will select one successor from the four Mutagen seeking control.

Each player commands four workers that react differently to the locations where they are placed. A placement activates the location and an extra effect linked to that worker's type, creating turns with multiple connected actions. Biological upgrades unlock further abilities, allowing the same worker to evolve during the game and giving each player a personalised engine.

Gather elements from floating cities, trade resources for shards, establish control through investments and improve an airship while pursuing victory points. The contest unfolds across four years, represented by four rounds, with scoring opportunities appearing at different stages. The winner is the player who has used the Shard's new powers most effectively and accumulated the highest total by the end.
