Cross Bronx Expressway Board Game

Trace six decades of change in New York City’s South Bronx with Cross Bronx Expressway. From 1940 to 2000, players guide the Public, Private and Community factions as major infrastructure projects, housing decisions and economic pressures reshape neighbourhoods and the lives of the people within them.

Each faction has distinct goals and resources, yet all three share responsibility for keeping the borough from collapsing. Players build organisations, form coalitions, manage debt and respond to historical events while the growing expressway and other projects alter the opportunities available on the map.

Competition and cooperation remain tightly connected because a faction can pursue its own success while still causing a collective defeat. The design turns urban policy into an approachable asymmetric strategy game where every development has social, financial and political consequences.
