Every player begins with the same small deck before purchasing new Action, Treasure and Victory cards from a shared kingdom supply. Cards added during the game create an increasingly capable deck, but collecting too many Victory cards early can slow the engine needed to acquire them.

Dominion introduces the core deck building system, while Intrigue adds cards that emphasise choices and interaction between players. A large selection of Kingdom cards allows a different set to be chosen for every session, producing new combinations and strategies.
