Hutan Life in the Rainforest Board Game

In HUTAN, all players have their own rainforest patch where they will plant sprouts and flowers that over time, will grow into towering trees. When a habitat is created, an iconic forest animal arrives - the orangutan, the Sumatran tiger, the rhinoceros hornbill, the cassowary, or the Sumatran rhino.

Grow a layered tropical habitat in Hutan Life in the Rainforest. Each player develops a personal rainforest patch over nine rounds, drafting flower cards from a shared market and placing the indicated flowers into different growth areas. Matching a newly placed flower with one already present causes a tree to grow, gradually transforming the board from scattered plants into dense forest.

Completing an area with trees creates a suitable habitat for one of five iconic animals: the orangutan, Sumatran tiger, rhinoceros hornbill, cassowary or Sumatran rhino. The final tree is replaced by the animal, making careful placement essential if players want to complete valuable habitats without leaving inefficient gaps. Ecosystem cards provide additional scoring directions and reasons to develop the rainforest in different ways.

Every player takes two turns per round, keeping the shared flower display important throughout the game. The Family, Advanced and Solo variants provide different ways to approach the same growth puzzle, while achievements add further scenarios and challenges. Final scoring rewards the most successful rainforest and its attracted wildlife, balancing efficient construction with broader ecosystem goals.
