Players take the role of emerging artists travelling between exhibitions and transforming irregular wooden pieces into striking freestanding sculptures. Every addition must satisfy the current challenge while remaining physically balanced, so a bold design can earn valuable fame but may also collapse after one ambitious piece too many.

The world tour is divided into city exhibitions, and each destination introduces its own rules and scoring challenge. Players place one or more pieces onto their structures during a city, sometimes using or choosing cards as directed by that location. The result is a sequence of different building tests rather than a single sculpture repeated under the same conditions.

Success combines steady hands, balance and a measure of luck as increasingly unusual shapes are added to each construction. Depending on the city, recognition may come from building high, keeping a structure standing or satisfying another exhibition goal. Fame is collected throughout the tour, and the artist who performs most successfully across its changing challenges becomes the leading name in Junk Art.
