Its playing area is approximately fifty per cent larger than the standard Mega Empires The East board, creating more room to place and manage the game's many civilisation components. The foldable neoprene construction combines a smooth printed surface with convenient storage in the supplied sturdy package.

The mat can be used by itself with Mega Empires The East or joined to the corresponding mat for the other region to create a much larger combined scenario. Manufacturing tolerances can leave a border difference of several millimetres where the two large neoprene mats meet.
