Purgatorio Men of Iron Volume Six Board Game

Fight across medieval Italy in Purgatorio Men of Iron Volume Six. The game examines the long conflict between the Guelph supporters of the Papacy and the Ghibelline supporters of the Holy Roman Empire from the late twelfth to the early fourteenth century.

Seven battles follow the changing struggle between emperors, kings, leagues and rival Italian cities. Scenarios range from Frederick Barbarossas confrontation with the Lombard League at Legnano to the battle of Zappolino between Modena and Bologna.

Units represent infantry, missile troops and mounted men at arms fighting across maps scaled at approximately 110 yards per hex. The Men of Iron system focuses on battlefield command, troop activation and the difficulties of coordinating medieval armies.
